Family Broadcasting Corportation OVERVIEW

Family Broadcasting Corporation (FBC) is a multi-faceted Christian organization whose purpose is to cover the globe with the gospel message of Jesus Christ.

Dr. Lester Sumrall started FBC in 1968 with the purchase of a radio station in South Bend, Indiana. But Dr. Sumrall's vision was to bring the message of God’s love and mercy to every nation through broadcast media.

Today, FBC reaches more than 90% of the world's population through satellite television, local television and radio stations, and shortwave radio.

But our work doesn't stop with broadcasting. The Feed The Hungry organization feeds more than 150,000 children around the world every day, Spread the Word has distributed more than 700,000 free Bibles, Prayerline is a 24/7 prayer ministry, and LeSEA Tours has taken nearly 15,000 people to the Holy Land.

Dr. Lester Sumrall was a world-renowned pastor and evangelist, who entered full-time ministry work after experiencing a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ.

At the age of 17, he was near death, suffering from tuberculosis, when he had a vision. He saw a casket on the right side of his bed and a large open Bible on his left, and heard a voice saying, “Lester Sumrall, which of these will you choose tonight?” He made the decision to preach the gospel as long as he lived. When he awoke the next morning, he was completely healed and served God for his remaining 65 years.

He began traveling the world with Howard Carter in 1935 and grew a missionary’s heart for the lost. Together, they forged new territory for Christ, established churches, and instructed men and women of God across the globe.

Eventually, Dr. Sumrall ministered in 110 countries and wrote more than 130 books.

In 1957, he founded the Lester Sumrall Evangelistic Association with the mission to “reach the untold billions yet untold” for Jesus Christ. LeSEA Broadcasting has grown into one the world’s most respected Christian broadcasters and now operates two satellite Christian television networks, several local television stations across the United States, an FM radio station and several shortwave transmitters that cover almost the entire planet.

In 1996, Dr. Sumrall went to be with the Lord. But today, his mission lives on through the leadership of the third generation of the Sumrall family.
